Senior Major Gifts/Planned Gifts Officer
Responsibilities:
The Senior Major Gifts/Planned Gifts Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 150 prospects and donors with the capacity to make gifts of $10,000 and up for restricted and unrestricted funds. The incumbent is responsible for identifying new prospects, cultivating potential contributors, developing solicitation strategies and identifying gift opportunities to match donor interests. He/she will be assigned to an academic school within the College and will work closely with respective volunteers, alumni, faculty and dean; providing direct fundraising counsel for the latter. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to take initiative, and work effectively in a team environment.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Progressively successful individual major gift fundraising experience. Proven success in prospecting and soliciting gifts/closing major gifts/sales. This position requires excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills and strong attention to detail. Some travel is required and occasionally, weekend and evening work may be necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education or other complex organization fund-raising database. Demonstrated commitment to an organization with similar mission as Buffalo State College. Mission statement can be found on our website at www.buffalostate.edu.
